Cultural Leadership, Culture, and Organizational Change
Organizations rarely struggle because they lack talent. More often, they struggle because culture, trust, and accountability have fallen out of alignment.
Drawing on two decades of work with Fortune 500 companies, healthcare systems, universities, nonprofits, and public institutions, I help leaders navigate complexity, strengthen culture, and build organizations where people and performance thrive together. Whether through executive coaching, strategic facilitation, leadership retreats, or systems-level consulting, my work helps organizations move from intention to action and from values on paper to values in practice.
Leadership Development and Executive Coaching
Supporting leaders in building self-awareness, navigating complexity, and leading with greater clarity, courage, and accountability. Through individual coaching and leadership development experiences, executives gain practical tools to strengthen decision-making, deepen trust, and lead with greater impact.
Culture and Organizational Strategy
Culture is not created through statements or aspirations. It is shaped through systems, behaviors, incentives, and everyday decisions.I help organizations examine how culture is experienced across the institution and identify the conditions that support trust, belonging, accountability, and sustainable performance. Together, we translate insight into practical strategies that strengthen organizational effectiveness.
The Global Tapestry™ Methodology
The Global Tapestry™ is a human-centered methodology for navigating culture and systems during periods of complexity, change, and uncertainty.
Informed by organizational leadership, intercultural practice, and global field-based inquiry, the methodology helps leaders understand how context, institutional design, and human dynamics shape outcomes. At the center of the methodology is the Global Tapestry Compass™, a practical framework that helps leaders assess conditions, align priorities, strengthen capacity, and respond with clarity during moments of disruption and change.
Rather than focusing solely on individual behavior, the Global Tapestry examines the larger conditions influencing performance, communication, trust, and decision-making. The result is a deeper understanding of what organizations need in order to move forward with steadiness, coherence, and purpose.
Cultural Immersions
Exploring history, memory and belonging through shared expereince.
Some lessons cannot be learned in a classroom, boardroom, or conference hall.
Through immersive experiences rooted in history, culture, storytelling, and human connection, participants move beyond observation and into relationship. Whether exploring the legacy of the Civil Rights Movement, engaging the complexity of contemporary Cuba, or reconnecting with water as memory, ecosystem, and belonging, these journeys invite curiosity, reflection, and meaningful transformation.
Each immersion is customized to the needs of the participating group. Contact me to request a prospectus, discuss dates, and explore whether one of these experiences is right for your organization, institution, or community.
Legacy Unbroken: Selma to Montgomery
An immersive three-day journey tracing the footsteps of those who redefined democracy. Through reflection and shared dialogue, participants engage the living history of Selma and Montgomery, from the Edmund Pettus Bridge to the Legacy Museum, confronting the enduring weight of white supremacy and the resilience that reshaped a nation. Guided by memory and radical truth telling, this experience invites a reckoning with history to imagine new paths toward justice.
Heritage Horizons: Cuba Cultural Excursion
Across Havana’s vibrant streets and sacred spaces, and the limestone valleys of Viñales, this five-day journey explores identity, rhythm, and resistance. Participants encounter the intertwined legacies of Santería and Yoruba traditions, Afro-Cuban creativity, and artistic defiance through cooking, dance, and conversation. This experience invites travelers to witness how art, faith, and community sustain cultural survival and to reflect on their own place within the global story of liberation.
Salt + Soul: Ocean Immersion Experience
For generations, water has held our grief and our becoming. This three-day guided experience reconnects participants to the sea through story, ceremony, and exploratory dive practice. From film and reflection circles to underwater exploration, Salt + Soul invites those reclaiming, remembering, or deepening their bond with the ocean, honoring those who have long drawn breath beneath its surface and the stories that rise when we return to the sea.
Speaking & Storytelling
Beyond Survival: Reclaiming Power, Story, and Self
What do we inherit besides trauma? What healing remains possible?
In this deeply personal keynote, Chevara explores the stories we inherit, the identities we construct, and the complicated realities we carry. Drawing from her own journey through family legacy, harm, accountability, healing, and reconciliation, she invites audiences into a conversation about truth, wholeness, and what it means to live fully without denying any part of our experience.
Rather than offering easy answers, this keynote explores the possibility of holding complexity with courage, compassion, and curiosity. It is an invitation to move beyond survival and toward a deeper relationship with ourselves, one another, and the lives we are creating.
Between Worlds: The Expansive Truth of Being Black, Jewish, and Whole
The farther I traveled, the larger my identity became.
Drawing on her experience as a Black and Jewish woman and her travels across more than sixty countries, Chevara explores how identity shifts across geography, culture, history, and belonging. Assumptions that once felt certain became more nuanced. Questions that seemed settled grew more complex. The farther she traveled, the more she realized that identity is not simply who we are. It is also shaped by where we are, who surrounds us, and the stories cultures tell about race, history, and belonging.
Through personal narrative, family history, and global exploration, this keynote examines what happens when we move beyond inherited labels and engage the fullness of our story. It is an invitation to embrace complexity, deepen connection, and imagine more expansive ways of understanding ourselves and one another.
Bearing Witness: Resistance, Memory, and the Courage to Stand Firm
What is the price of silence?
As one of three plaintiffs in the successful challenge to Florida’s Stop WOKE Act, Chevara reflects on the responsibilities that accompany truth telling in times of division, uncertainty, and political pressure. Drawing on personal experience, civil rights history, and contemporary struggles over memory and belonging, she explores what happens when history becomes contested and why the stories we choose to preserve matter.
Part personal narrative and part call to reflection, this keynote examines how ordinary people find the courage to act, what it means to bear witness, and why silence is never as neutral as it appears. At a time when history itself has become a battleground, Bearing Witness invites audiences to consider not only what they believe, but what they are willing to defend.
